I’m sorry jig, I’m gonna lean to her side- She is only 13. From my experience with 13 year olds (as a youth worker) she’s not doing anything wrong.
Language evolves through time (look at Shakespearian writing compared to modern day writing). It’s things like MSN/chat and SMS that causes it. Trying to get more words into a shorter space.
And she is young- and just having fun - I think we should just respect that and get on with our lives. Yes some things said on her site *are* humourous, but I dont think it’s worthy of putting her down.

No Kris… Yes, language evolves, but that does not mean that her incorrect grammar is ok to be used now. People don’t need to abbreviate everything, or type everything in capitals, or swear to get a point across. Looking at the evidence, i would say it’s quiet likely that she’s just plain dumb.

I don’t believe she’s stupid. What I think is that she probably feels it’s “cool” to type like that, because society is pushing her in that direction. Sure she may be misguided now, but I’d like to think that there’s still hope for the majority of our youth today.
As far as language evolving over time, while that is true, I hope that the current trend on instant messaging services does NOT become the language of tomorrow. It belittles all the work that teachers around the World do. In my opinion, condoning such acts is more harmful to kids than it is beneficial. Then again, I’m not a social worker, I just use the internet a lot.
Now I give her the benefit of the doubt because she can quite clearly spell correctly, the problem is she CHOOSES not to. And then I’m sure she bitches and moans about how she has to do such and such homework all the while cussing and capitailizing with her friends on MSN.
The way I see it, type how you speak, because that way you can still incorporate a bit of slang in, but you don’t get lumped into a category that you don’t deserve. Hell, it’s what I do, and it seems to get me far. I’m not saying write a thesis every post and the odd typo here or there can be forgiven, but intentionally misspelling words and using poor grammar to win friends is simply not on.
And don’t think I don’t know what today’s music is doing to kids either with all this “Right Thurr” crap, no wonder rappers get shot so much, it’s probably by University professors.

Bullshit you have no life. Everyone has a life, just because it’s not exactly the same as everyone elses doesn’t mean it’s any less important. f you had no life you’d be dead, and it’s quite clear you’re still alive and kicking. Fuck whatever anyone else says most people don’t know their ears from their arsehole.
Many people have depression, many people I know have depression. I can’t say that warrants being as angry as you seem to be. And it’s not like it’s something that can’t be helped, funnily enough there are antidepressants, which from what I’ve seen tend to work.
As far as not having a future, trust me, you do. The problem is, you’re at the age where the people around you are just a bunch of idiots, wait until you’re through high school, it’s a long six years and it can be absolute hell for a lot of it, but as soon as you break out and move on to university or another form of tertiary education, or even the workforce, you will find that people’s attitudes are World’s apart from those of high school kids.
As far as going from popular to “normal” I don’t see that as a problem. As far as school is concerned, it doesn’t really mean shit. People make it out to be the be all and end all and while it does help with further choices you will make, it isn’t set in stone. Sorry if that’s what I put across before, it was late and I was tired. It’s not the end of the World, it’s just the beginning, so sure, do your best, but from someone in the know, school becomes pretty meaningless once you finish it. All you really need is that TER (and even now with such a diverse range of TAFE institutes and apprenticeships/traineeships being offered even THAT isn’t overly important any more).
Welcome to life, it sucks, but you have to learn to deal with it.
