something for everyone else

10/31/2005

We all hate dial-up, and thank god I am now back to my adsl. I was shaped for downloading too much (pfft, ISP’s need to start giving out limits far bigger than 50GB) and only got it back to normal yesterday. It is after a stint like that where you remember how great it is so have a song download in 20 seconds as opposed to 20 minutes.

At least I dont have 7

10/22/2005

Here is an abstract of today’s conversation between Jessness and I.

Jig: will you go out with me?
Jessness: sure, why not
Jig: woo, by the way you’re dumped
Jessness: that sucks, I hate you
Jessness you’re dumped too
Jig: i totally dumped you first
Jessness: You’re such a bitch
Jig: no point dealing with all the shit inbetween
Jessness: true, it’s like a 50 yr relationship condensed into about 1 minute
Jig: well now we can get on with the rest of our lives, and not have to wonder about what_could_have been because we _did_.
Jessness: i’m so going to go and screw your best friend

After that we got married (see 21-oct-05).

p.s. Jessness is not my sister, because unlike Duncan (Sin), I don’t confuse my ex-girlfriend (current wife) and my sister up.
p.p.s. Also as I thought, someone decided to be funny (Rheece) and decided to have me marry Joel and my sister. Well I guess at least I’m not married to Simone like Rheece is.

Movie Critic

10/14/2005

I’ve been on a movie spree as of late… Nothing to do with the fact that I have adsl or anything… Here is what I think of my recent viewings.

  • 40 Year Old Virgin, plot kinda explains itself, is a very funny movie. Watch it.
  • Cinderella Man is a drama… I don’t like dramas. It’s about boxing… I don’t like boxing. In spite of all this, I shed a tear(#) watching it. *ponders whether or not to leave that in as not to seem like a sissy… **hears voice in head: they know you are anyway**…leaves it in* Seriously go and watch it now. I really liked it.
  • Dukes of Hazard (2005). If it wasn’t for Jessica Simpson’s legs I would have fallen asleep 10 minutes into the film (and in fact did for the last 20 minutes or so.) Don’t watch it.
  • Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. A fun romp through the world of FFVII, lots and lots of nostalgia is infused within, though the story is rather shallow compared to the games, the action sequences sure make up the difference. Go and watch it if you like CGI action.
  • Deuce Bigalow European Gigolo, compared to the first film is crap and way too over the top. Lacking in any genuine laughs, just jumps right over the line between funny and lame far too often. Definitely don’t go and watch it.
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). A twisted tale and I’m still not sure what to think of it. Follows the book a little more closely. Willy is a lot stranger this time around. Watch it but don’t expect it to be anything like the first.
  • Corpse Bride. Tristan recommended it to me so I watched it. It was weird and yet strangely entertaining about a guy who ends up being the husband of a corpse (surprise surprise). Watch it.
  • I have also been playing through Legend of Zelda:Wind Waker again. It’s great. Work is busy, I have a full fridge, I spent less than 3 hours total on the Internet since my last post. That’s gotta be a record.

    # It should be noted that I don’t get teary about sad things. Only in situations where the characters face insurmountable odds but are gunna give it all they have regardless. 2 other movies where its happened like that for me, one in The Last Samurai in the final fight where Tom Cruise is getting an ass whooping, and in the 3rd LotR movie (Return of the King). When they are surrounded by all the dudes at the gate but are like “fuck it lets fight even if we’re gunna probably all die horrible painful deaths” (I’m obviously paraphrasing, but if I wrote the whole speech I’d probably run out of web space.)

the internet is uninspiring… tibia is boring… all the sites i usually frequent are becoming tedious… i can’t think of what to downloadforums are annoying… and i’m tired of ellipsis. Hell even always writing without capitals is losing its charm. I think I’ve hit something like a “Geek Life Crisis.” Might go to bed.

    10/2/2005

well i havn’t posted in ages (when do i ever not post in ages?) so here is the last 10 or so days in a nutshell. there is a new employee at work replacing josh, his name is jake. he is short and has a slight canadian accent which of course is funny and we laugh at him, eh! I am driving to melbourne tomorrow which will be fun(ny) and have been watching ALOT of initial d. seriously if you dont really like subbed anime which is mainly about cars then watch it anyway because it’s great.

i acquired 2 “a perfect circle” albums this weekend (namely eMOTIVE and thirteenth step) and a heap of coheed and cambria (whose lead singer sounds like a girl but doesn’t look like one… at all…). they’re both great and you should go and buy/download all of their stuff. do it now.

you know you’re a geek when you watch tv, through your computer, on your tv.
