Or at the very least are trend setters. I was reading jess and pondered a bit why it was in fact that I thought geeks are cool. It is because everything we do, over time, becomes socially acceptable to the point where if you don’t embrace it you are left behind. Blog, LoTR, MMORPG, MP3 and Bittorrent. All these things exist because of us and what we do. It is now expected that you have a blog, and if you don’t “wer hav u been? undr a rok? they r so c00l!” It took 3 epic movies which absolutely ripped the books apart for LoTR to become famous… but we had read the books how many years ago now? Do you even know what a MMORPG is? It took the release of World of Warcraft for people to realise that playing in persistent online worlds could actually be engaging and fun. The list goes on. Are we cool to the general public? No. Will we be when everyone decides what we have been doing for years is actually a good thing? Probably not. At least we know you’d be nowhere without us.
