Yummy

3/30/2008

Hong Kong smells. It’s very strong, and the humidity doesn’t help at all. Today it was only 27 degrees but it felt hotter than 35. It’s really thick, you can nearly swim in it. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, when a big bus passes and a pocket of air hits you, or when something a little too strong wafts out of some exotic shop.

Speaking of exotic, today was my first taste of Hong Kong cuisine. There was some little shop and I ordered “2 items with noodles”. After some… negotiating… with the lady on what I actually get with that. Turns out I get a choice of 2 different things from a selection of about 10. None were really what I would call great looking, and in fact none of them looked familiar except the sausages and chicken wings. I chose 2 at random. One looked like… kinda like chicken skin boiled and the other looked like a meatball of sorts but was white and certainly didn’t contain any normal meat. It was pretty good though, might go back and try a few of the others later
