So I have seen a lot of movies and haven’t written about them because I’m lazy. Of course that now means that I have too many to write about. So This round I’m just going to give really brief descriptions and ratings. Except for Saw V which I saw (teehee) thursday night. Also because it is awesome.
Saw V
I liked it a lot. If you like Saw movies, this will still keep you entertained. While the final twist isn’t as revelationy as I’d have liked. The first 4 kept me guessing right till the end but this time I could see at least half the twist 30 mins before it happened. The gore though is all still in tact with some pretty gruesome scenes. And the mind games are all there. It answered a lot of questions about Hoffman but it asked a whole lot more which just leaves me wanting to see Saw VI more than I already did. This fact also makes it a little bit of a downer as there isn’t really any progression with the characters and by the end, while you have learnt more you didn’t really get very far. Not the best in the series but at least they didn’t ruin it yet. Still leagues above others in the genre though. 5 movies in and still keeping you on the edge of your seat is a pretty good effort. Usually by now the killer has become immortal and mindlessly killing everyone. Jason anyone? 4/5
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist
More a teen romance than a comedy. Still kinda entertaining. 2.5/5
Blindness
Really awesome thriller. Quite disturbing in some parts but still really well made. 4/5
Religulous
Hilarious movie that asks lots of questions about religion to religious people, mostly pointing out its faults. If you can keep an open mind you’ll be very entertained. 3.5/5
Flash of Genius
Pretty cool story will have you cheering on the dude in the end. 3/5
City of Ember
Pretty good kids movie, not so much for “grown ups”. The kids might get a bit freaked out by some parts. 2/5
Max Payne
Maybe my hopes were too high but I was really disappointed by this one. Not enough action, though when it was there it was pretty cool. Pretty boring story though. 2/5
Passchendaele
Supposed to be a war movie about how Canada pwned some land in WW1. In this 2 hour snore fest you get about 25 minutes of warry goodness and the rest is lame romance novel material. If you like romance movies, check it out. If you’re after a war movie, watch Saving Private Ryan or something. 1/5
